Urban life for me is a clash, a mixture, a collage. It bumps up against us in ways that seem totally new; even the old world contributes to our present vision.
I am attracted to images that are immersed in or come with a very intricate context; releasing them from its history and giving them a sense of a floating context. These images are at once extracted, reproduced and changed in placement and have a sense of being void of explanation, void even of a social context. Once immersed in wax the images seem captured in time, but in fact they are changed in their handling. I use wax on canvas to capture a moment, or to create movement & texture because it has for me the essence of sculpture.
